Understand what a Project is in ProcessMaker Platform.

What is a Project?

A Project is a way to organize assets and collaborate with others to fulfill the same goal. Projects assist in development of efficient business solutions by providing the following benefits.

  • Manage assets more easily by organizing them into one Project for all Project members to easily locate and design together.

  • Facilitate the reuse of assets within the business solution for enhanced efficiency.

Projects save time, enhance design productivity and consistency, and make it east to maintain the final deliverable.

Available Assets for a Project

The following asset types are available for a Project:

When creating an asset, you can assign it to a Project.

When adding an existing asset to a Project, the original asset or a copy may be added. When a copy is added to a Project, changes made to that copy do not affect the original asset.

Manage Designers within a Project Easily

Easily manage Project members who are designing within that project goal. As a Project member, that Designer can work with any asset within that Project without user permissions for any asset type. For example, a Project member does not need user permissions for Processes, Scripts, and Screens to work with those asset types while a member of that Project. A user with no asset-type permissions may use assets in the following circumstances:

  • That user is a member of a specific Project. That user may only use assets within the Project to which that user is a member. All members in a Project may use the assets within it. Project membership does not grant viewing assets not within the Project unless that user has user or group permissions for individual asset types.

  • That asset, or a copy of the original asset, has been added to that specific Project.

Note that Projects do not invalidate user permissions. For example, if a user is not a member of a Project but has Process user or group permissions, that Designer may work with any Process in that organization.

View Your Projects

ProcessMaker Platform displays those Projects in which you are a member in one table. This makes it easy to manage your Projects.

Permissions

Your user account or group membership must have the "Projects: View Projects" permission to view the list of Projects unless your user account has the Make this user a Super Admin setting selected.

This permission is enabled by default for all user accounts. Note that you can only view Projects in which you are a member or which you created. If you cannot view your Projects, see the Projects permissions or ask your Administrator for assistance.

Follow these steps to view all Projects in which you are a member:

  1. Log on to ProcessMaker Platform.

  2. Click the Designer option from the top menu. The Designer Welcome Screen displays.

  3. Do one of the following:

In the Projects page, the Projects tab displays those Projects in which you are a member.

The Projects page displays the following information in tabular format about your Projects:

  • Name: The Name column displays the name of the Project.

  • Category: The Category column displays to which Project Category the Project is assigned.

  • Members: The Members column displays the avatar for each user that is a member of the Project.

  • Modified: The Modified column displays the date and time any new asset is added or any of its assets modified. The time zone setting to display the time is according to the ProcessMaker Platform instance unless your user profile's Time zone setting is specified.

  • Created: The Created column displays the date and time the Project was created. The time zone setting to display the time is according to the ProcessMaker Platform instance unless your user profile's Time zone setting is specified.

Search for a Project

Use the Search function to filter all Projects from the Projects page based on your entered text. You may only view and search for Projects in which you are a member.

Permissions

Your user account or group membership must have the "Projects: View Projects" permission to search your Projects unless your user account has the Make this user a Super Admin setting selected.

This permission is enabled by default for all user accounts. Note that you can only view Projects in which you are a member or which you created. If you cannot view your Projects, see the Projects permissions or ask your Administrator for assistance.

Follow these steps to search for a Project:

  1. Enter in the Search setting the Project name to filter Projects.

As you enter text into the Search setting, Projects display that match your entered text.

If there are no search results, the following message displays: No Results.
