VarFinder is an intuitive tool that enables designers to quickly locate assets and their associated variables. It ensures seamless compatibility with existing interfaces while providing efficient access to variables from anywhere in the platform. By incorporating multiple-asset search and a user-friendly UI, VarFinder enhances design and development workflows within ProcessMaker.

Display the VarFinder
Permissions
Your user account or group membership must have the following permissions to display the Var Finder unless your user account has the Make this user a Super Admin setting selected.
Collections: Create Collections
Processes: Create Processes
Screens: Create Screens
Scripts: Create Scripts
Data Sources: Create Data Sources
Decision Tables: Create Decision Tables
FlowGeniw: Create Genies

The VarFinder can be accessed from anywhere in the Platform by following these steps:
Open VarFinder using the Shift + Space shortcut.
The VarFinder appears as a pop-up floating screen without disrupting your work.
Toggle between Recent and Search modes to view recent or all assets.
Reposition the VarFinder as needed by clicking and dragging it from the top.
View Variables for Recent Assets
The Recent tab displays the five most recently edited assets. These can be processes, screens, or collections.
Follow these steps to view variables for an asset:
Click on the asset name to expand it. This reveals up to 10 variables, with an option to expand the list.
Click on a variable. The variable is automatically copied.
Paste the variable into the desired location within the platform.
Use the filter bar to search within recent assets.
Use the Collapse all and Jump Back Up buttons to navigate around the VarFinder.
Asset List
Asset names in the list are limited to 30 characters.
If no recent assets are available, a message prompts users to open an asset.
Search for Variables
The Search tab allows searching for assets and view their variables. You can select an asset type (screens, processes, or collections) and then search for a specific asset name. Follow these steps to search for an asset:
Click on the Search tab.
Select the type of asset from the asset list on the left. You can search in screens, processes, or collections.
Enter the asset name in the search bar and press Enter. Partial matches are supported.
Click the required asset and expand it to view its variables.
Click on a variable. The variable is automatically copied to the clipboard.
Paste the variable into the desired location within the platform.
Use the Collapse all and Jump Back Up buttons to navigate around the VarFinder.
