The Process Translation feature supports multiple languages and provides both automatic and manual translation for screens in a process. Users automatically see screens in their local language based on their user profile or browser settings. Screen translations are generated automatically using ProcessMaker AI and can be later modified manually as well, if needed. **Display Behavior During a Case** - Screens are translated as participants view them during a case based on their language preference. - Once a case has started, the language for that specific screen remains fixed for the duration of the case. - To see the screens in another language, the user must start a new case **after** changing their language. **Preview and Design Mode** Translations are visible in **preview mode** within the Screen Builder, allowing designers to review the translated layout before deploying. **Scope of Translation** - Only **screens** are affected by translation settings. - Other assets such as **Collections, Scripts, Variables, and Permissions** are **not** translated when using process translation features. **Import and Export of Translations** Process translations are packaged along with the process during **import/export**, ensuring multilingual support is preserved between environments. **Language Detection Logic** **For Logged-In Users** - The translation displayed depends on the **language selected at login**. - If no translations are available for the selected language, screens default to **English**. **For Anonymous Web Entries** - The **Default Anon Language** setting can be configured to define the fallback language. - If not configured, the screen language is determined by the **web browser’s language preferences**. ## Access Translations for a Process **Permissions** Your user account or group membership must have the following permissions to view Screen translations for a Process unless your user account has the **Make this user a Super Admin** setting selected: - Processes: Edit Processes - Processes: View Processes See the [Processes](/v1/docs/permission-descriptions-for-users-and-groups#description-of-platform-permissions) permissions or ask your Administrator for assistance. Follow these steps to view all translations for a Process: 1. [Log on](/v1/docs/participant-basics#log-on-to-processmaker-platform) to ProcessMaker Platform. 2. Click the **Admin** option from the top menu. The **Users** page displays. 3. Click the **Translations** icon ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2d311614-fcb7-4424-8b4c-d4d3091eebeb/Images/Documentation/Translations Icon.png) from the left sidebar. The **Translations** page lists all the available languages. 4. Do one of the following to select a language: - Click a language from the list. - Click the ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2d311614-fcb7-4424-8b4c-d4d3091eebeb/Images/Documentation/Open Icon.png) icon for the selected language. 5. From the top menu, select the **Default Anon Language** option to specify the default language for **anonymous (Anon) web entries**—forms or screens that users can access without logging in. When the **Default Anon Language** is set, all anonymous users will see the content in that chosen language by default. 7. To translate screens for individual processes, select one from the list on the left. 8. Most strings are in plain text string, except those associated with HTML code, which might not require translation. Do one of the following to select strings: 1. Click the **Checkbox** column to select one or more strings. 2. When translation for the Process's Screens complete, the translated string will appear. Make manual updates, if needed. 6. Process participants will now be able to see these translations when viewing screens associated with their tasks. ## Translate Screens Manually Follow these steps to manaully translate the screens in a process: 1. [Access translations for a process](/v1/docs/process-translations-1#access-translations-for-a-process). 2. Display translations in one of the following ways: 1. From the top menu, select the ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2d311614-fcb7-4424-8b4c-d4d3091eebeb/Images/Documentation/String Org Icon.png) icon to organize all screen Strings at once. 3. Click the **Check** icon to save the translation. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to manually translate all the required strings. 6. Process participants will now be able to see these translations when viewing screens associated with their tasks.
